Good little tool4
I just bought this after realizing I needed a remote of some sort.
First the good.
Just plug it into your camera and it works. Not having a wire attached to the camera is a definite bonus. The button is easy to press even if your fingers are cold. Works with antennae down at least at close range. Small enough to fit in my pocket, and both units are small enough to not take up any of that precious space in my camera bag.

The bad.
The remote requires a sewing machine screwdriver to replace the battery if it goes dead. There is no battery access like there is on the receiver. The battery for the receiver is not a standard grocery or convenience store purchase like a AA or AAA. If you are in auto/auto-focus mode, there is no positive feedback on the button to tell when you have pressed the button down enough to trigger the shutter.

All in all it has done a great job and performs as expected.

Works great4
I purchased this to use with my D300. It came in a basic no thrills box and came with the batteries. It has worked fine. I went on a three day workshop and used it every day all throughout the day. When I used it all day I left it on the camera the entire time and screwed it into the plug - when in my home studio I just plug it in without screwing it down, it stays on just fine. Overall I probably shot about 1000 pictures with it and it seems to be going fine. If I ever get to the point of convincing myself to put a piece of velcro on my camera, then I will secure it to the camera with a piece of velcro; I'm afraid that it dangling and swinging will eventually put stress on the wires and break them, but so far so good and still velcro free. There are some visible dip switches on the remote, but I didn't buy it for its look, I bought because of the good price. The switches enable you to change the frequency if needed.
Great product5
This product is far less expensive than others but works great. Have used it with my D300 with great success.
remote picture perfect5
this product worked perfect. easy to carry. easy to install. easy to use. i was a little skeptical when i made the purchase because i have not heard of this brand before. however, after using this for hundreds of pictures of my wife and i, and it not failing even once , i am giving it 5 stars!

You only use it for night shots (keep the hand away from the camera body) or those family shots.

Great little gadget to have in the camera bag. EXCELLENT PRICE.
It works great at a great price5
What more can I say, it does what it is supposed to do, I can get some self portraits done now.
Not compatible1
I cannot honestly say anything about this remote because it did not work with my SP-350 Olympus Camera. I do not know if it's good, bad or worth the money.

Great Wireless Flash trigger for Canon users5
unit works great with my canon flashes and has a really good range. I'm shooting with a Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II and Canon 550ex & 430ex speedlite Flashes and it works Great! I used it up to about 30 feet from my flash and it still worked great. I haven't gotten far enough away from it for it to not work. it also has a PC cord but but i haven't been able to test that yet because the "ear phone" jack side of the cord is too small to fit into my studio flashes, but i'm sure it will work with an adapter. Over all i'm Very Happy with this $30 investment. oh and the battery life is pretty good too it uses 2 AAAs
Intermittent, low quality2
2 stars because they do work... for a while. They will allow you to take your first step in off camera flash. However they are not reliable so if your photos are time critical, like a wedding etc. don't buy these. You will never use these if a client is paying you money, they can't be relied upon. Both sets I bought have since stopped working. One set died rather quickly. I've heard other people over at the strobist forums love them and they plod on for years. That was not my experience.

I bought 2 sets of these before investing in Pocket Wizards. PW's were the only choice at the time. Now there are Radio Poppers (I've not used them but I hear they are good) and while they cost twice the price, they will last more than twice as long. I'm tied to the PW system which is fine. They are pricey but awesome.

If you've only got $30 to spend and you really want to experiment with off camera flash than get these. Otherwise save your pennies get something more reliable.
Absolutely happy for what it is!!!!5
First off let me start by saying this product does exactly what it says. If u are like me and just need something to trigger your flash or flashes wireless, look no further. I refuse to pay 250 dollars for something that in my opinion just shouldnt cost that much. Im tired of buying items that do the exact same thing as this one, and just because it says "Canon" or "nikon" or "whatever brand" on them, they cost hundreds of dollars. This product costs 30 dollars and works. Thats all i care about. It has a really nice reach 40+ feet and fires every time. The build quality is just not there. But hey, for 30 Buks if it works for 1 year, i got my moneys worth. The people that gave this great product a bad review, forgot they paid 30 dollars for it, or got it as a present. Im using this with a 5D Mark ii, and has met, and exceeded all my expectations. If your like me and need a flash trigger, and dont want to get ripped off, buy this rite now. You wont regret it!!!!!

Customer Reviews

Really good product and as usual 47th Street got it here fast.5
I bought a wired remote that I had to buy an extension for to use. But even though the extension is 8 feet long it is inadequate when you are trying to take some pictures. When I saw this device I knew I needed to have it. I used this yesterday to take pictures of my daughter and her family. Simple hold the camera and shoot? No - They were on an uncooperative horse. The solution is a tripod a good camera, lens and this remote. I don't usually use auto focus in this instance I needed to. The horse did not like the whole situation and so I just set the camera on a tripod away from the horse and started shooting. After about 100 high res shots I was able to get what I needed. But, holding a camera and approaching a horse is not always the best way to go. This remote worked great. It does time out to conserve batteries etc but 95% of the time it will never be an issue. I was standing about 50 feet from the camera at times with no problem. There was one problem though - My two year old granddaughter wanted to "push button" but that is another story.
Works great4
The wireless remote works great. It controls the camera and allows you to auto focus before releasing the shutter. Best of all the remote does not have to be directly in front of the camera to work.
Opteka Rocks5
This is a great choice for an amateur or pro. Shoot one or a hundred, from behind your back, in your pocket, across the room, or behind the camera. Great investment over the infrared remotes because you don't need to focus the beam on the camera, and distances are limited with those.

Works fine5
At this price, I bought a spare figuring I'll probably loose it. It looked to do the same job as the Nikon ML-L3, so I thought I'd give it a try. I've had no problems. No set up required, just remove the battery tab, set your camera's release mode, and you're ready to go (at least for my model, the D5000). No problems with the autofocus either, and it works from a good distance as well as pointing it at an angle out of the camera's view for shots where I just don't want to move the camera. It doesn't come with a pouch like the ML-L3, but it costs less, and otherwise seems to work fine.
Excellent wireless remote5
I use this with nikon d3000 in quick release mode and it works in virtually all direction such as sides and back , did not need to train as inside pamphlet suggested, range is pretty good too. I am completely satisfied.
Love it!5
With your nikon there should be a timer setting that you can page through until a remote shows up (with or without a timer too) that enables this. I can use it in front, back and on the sides of the camera. We even played with bouncing it around another room to this cam and it worked great. Feels solid and very well engineered. Will be buying more for my family (my dad has a D80.)

It does what it's meant to do4
I just got this remote control a few days back, and so far I am pretty satisfied with it. The shipment was prompt and it arrived even faster than some of the Amazon's own products. I am using it with Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi. I chose it over some alternative products due to its compact size, and that comes in handy when lugging around a whole bunch of camera add-ons. I only have a couple of problems with it:

1. The user-instruction sheet is very poorly written and not very clear on a couple of crucial steps of the set up. It would have been more useful to have something that explains the set up in some detail with each one of the Canon products for which it's meant to be used.

2. The range of the remote is rather limited. I have not measured it exactly, but it seems that it doesn't work beyond 15 feet away.

7-28-2008 Update.

Since it seems that a lot of people are having problems with the instructions that came with this item, I decided to post a simple set-up procedure that worked for me:

1. Turn on the camera.

2. Press the "Drive mode" menu button. This is the same button as the left arrow on my camera.

3. Toggle between different setting using left and right arrow.

4. Make sure that the "Self-timer/Remote control" option is highlighted.

5. Press set button.

6. You are ready to roll. Point the remote to the camera (from the front of the camera) and press either the upper "S" (for immediate shooting) or "2S" (for 2s delayed shooting) buttons.

11-19-2009 Update.

From what I understand, the other buttons are meant to be used with Canon's point-and-shoot cameras. "S" is for shooting, and "W" and "T" are for zooming out/in. They will not work Canon's DSLR cameras.
Worth the money5
The remote is handy, small and it does what it is supposed to do. It looks quite good I might say and I am very happy I took this instead of canon original. For this kind of simple products (not high-tech) it is not worth paying for the brand.

After setting the camera in the "remote mode" then press S/2S and you'll get the picture.

On the other hand, the limited acting distance is what I expected. It is the same as with the TV set remote. You can not use infrared from very long distance
Incredible idea, fabulous item.5
Fabulous, pocket size, help you to work off camera not touching it at all and no having troubles with cables. Now I'm sometimes in the photos I take.
Perfect working condition, cheap (not the hard prices of the Canon originals)and battery is available practically everywhere.
I would recommend it for everyone having a Canon EOS.
